Greetings, and welcome to HeadingForTech! I’ve held various technology-related positions for a while now – over 25 years and counting. These have been as a technician, engineer, architect, and leader. I’ve worked in telecom, managed services, eCommerce/Fintech, and web products. If there’s one thing I’ve gained in that time it’s some perspective on how things affect our careers. This blog and site is a way to share that perspective and bring others along this always-changing journey in tech.
Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been at this for a bit of time, it’s likely you have some questions. Maybe you’re wondering how to break into a new field or advance in your current one. It could be you’re now caught up in a downsize and not sure how to process this turn of events, or want some help to get yourself moving forward again. You might even just need some different ideas on networking or mentoring.
My hope is to use my experience as well as contributions from those I’ve worked with to help the next generation of technologists be successful in their own unique way. None of us have moved ahead in our careers without help and guidance from others, and I want this to be that kind of resource for you.
I also want to point out that there are immeasurable pathways through a technology career and the things you might do. As such, please treat all of this as advice from someone who’s seen a thing or two rather than gospel.
